    Poland U18-France U18 65:69 France beat Poland at the last game of the Qualifying Round at the U18 European Championship in Vilnius as both teams jumped to the Quarterfinals with the lucky 2-3 records. France needed narrow 69:65 win to finish fourth in Group E, while Poland advanced from the third place. Karnowski started for Poland and Rudy Gobert (212-C-92) brought France 9:4. Bartoszewicz tied the game at 15:15, while Naurais closed the first period at 19:15

    Wales U16 - Monaco U16 69:29 Wales registered the first win at the U16 European Championship in Division C. They toppled Monaco in Andorra yesterday to occupy the third spot in preliminary Group A. Monaco dropped the third straight and stayed at the bottom of the ladder. The first frame turned decisive in this one. Wales marched to a 25:6 lead ten minutes into the game. Wales used an 11:0 run to boost the margin to 27 points midway through the second frame

    SO Maritime Boulogne (ProB) signed 24-year old American forward Darryl Monroe (201-F-86, college: George Mason, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management). Monroe played most recently at DeFriesland Aris Leeuwarden (Holland). While playing 41 games for DeFriesland last season his stats were: 16.9ppg (3rd best in the league), 7.6rpg, 3.3apg and 1.6spg. He helped Aris to make it to league semifinals. Monroe was also selected to the Dutch Eredivisie All-Star Game and Eurobasket

France celebrated the first victory in the Qualifying Round of the U18 European Championship in Group E. Slovenia that upset Latvia last night was beaten by France who was smashed by Liuthuanias. The picture in the group is now unpredictable and will be decided in the last days. Omic opened the game for Slovenia and Hodzic scored for 10:3

    Andorra U16 - Monaco U16 81:33 Andorra improved at 2-0 record on top of preliminary Group A at the U16 European Championship in Division C. They held off Monaco on the second day of action. Pau Gracia stepped up with 16 points and 9 rebounds to pace Andorra. Monaco in the meantime slipped at 0-2 record. The first frame was slow. The teams teamed up for just 14 points as Monaco grabbed an 8:6 lead. But the hosts took over in the second period

The home side became the only undefeated team and improved to 3-0 record in Group E destroying failing France 104:63. Lithuania started with 8-0 run in the game and enjoyed 13:2 when Edgaras Ulanovas (197-F-92) made a lay-up for the hosts. Jonas Valanciunas (210-C-92) brought 21:13 and Edgaras Ulanovas gave Lithuania 26:20

    Scotland U16 - Monaco U16 81:33 Scottish U16 team opened their European Championship in Division C campaign victoriously. They toppled Monaco for the first win in Andorra. Jack Nicholson nailed 19 points to lead the effort. Scotland jumped into the lead early in the game. They built an 18:9 lead ten minutes into the game. The teams slowed down a bit in the second quarter. Scotland however maintained the margin and arrived at halftime up by 13 points 31:18

    France U18-Sweden U18 57:42 France U18 takes the last ticket to the Qualifying Round from Group B as they rolled over Sweden in a do-or-die game of the day. France U18 escaped the Classification Round with a 57:42 victory as the latter fell at 0-3. The win lift France to a 1-2 record, enough for the 3rd spot in the group. France easily scored the first four points in the game and remained Sweden scoreless for about three minutes

Latvia meanwhile became the leader of Group B with 2-0 record. Valentin Bigote (197-F-92) gave French side the first lead as the team desired to bounce back from the first loss in the opener. The teams exchanged the leads several times, while the Baltic side grabbed 21-19 after 10 minutes

    Chalon signed the new import for 2010/11 season. They announced arrival of Marquez Haynes (191-G-86), who will make his debut as a pro. He graduated at the University of Texas-Arlington few months ago averaging 22.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in his senior year. Haynes moved there from the Boston College in 2008. This year, Haynes was named AP NCAA All-America Honorable Mention. He also was awarded with All-Southland Conf. Player of the Year.

  • Spain beat the Silver team of last year U18 European Championship

    France U18-Spain U18 57:61 Spain surprised France at the U18 European Championship in the last game of Day 1. Spain rolled over France 61:57 for the first victory. Last year Serbian U18 National team clinched the European championship title! They held off hosting France in Metz today to repeat the 2007 success. France will do their best this year to forget the first loss. Spain opened the game with 8-0 run, but Mathis Keita (192-G-92) reduced to 9:11

    French League finalist Chorale Roanne improved its frontcourt for the upcoming Euroleague Qualifying Rounds by inking center Alex Dunn (212-F/C-82, college: Wyoming) to a one-year deal. Dunn arrives from Anwil Wloclawek, where he averaged 8.3 points and 6.1 rebounds in 36 Polish League games last season. He helped Anwil to reach the Polish League finals last season and won the Polish SuperCup in 2007

    France is second at the U18 International tournament as they lost just the Final game. Krakow held Future Stars Tournament as six U18 teams participated in it. Poland invited the young players from Spain, Slovenia, Great Britain, Sweden and France. France overcame Poland 100:44 and later beat Richmond Selection. France advanced to the Semifinals as they rout Slovenia 82:66. Trailing 18-20 after the first period France needed 22-9 in the second frame to take the lead

    ALM Evreux Basket (ProB) signed 23-year old American forward Drake Reed (196-F-87, college: Austin Peay St.). Reed played most this summer at Ballarat Miners (Australia). He graduated Austin Peay last year, where he averaged 21.9ppg, 7.5rpg and 2.4apg. He sidelined for a year until he got a contract in Australia earlier this year. By Eurobasket Data Center

    France U16 contniues their preparation for European Championship and participated recenlty at the Memorial Simoncini for U16 teams. Italy hosted Memorial Simoncini for U16 teams as Italy U16, Turkey U16, France U16 and Germany U16 competed in the tournament. In Day 1 France U16 rolled over Turkey U16 58:51 in the opener. Typhoon Erulku's 17 points were not enough in the losing effort. Zafer Sezer Alp notched 13, whilst Kenan Sipahi (189-G-95) added 10

    Orleans announced signing of Amary Sy for the next two years. The 28-year old Mali/French forward spent last season with Murcia. Actually he started it in NBDL with the Bakersfield Jam, but in January moved to Spain. For 16 games in ACB, Sy had 5.8 ppg and 4.5 rpg. In NBDL he averaged 15 ppg, 7.3 rpg and 3.5 apg with the Jam. Season 2008/09, Amara Sy (202-F-81) spent with ASVEL. He shined with 12.3 ppg and 5.4 rpg for 31 games in ProA. In EuroCup, Sy was even better adding 16 ppg and 5

    Limoges CSP continues with signings this summer. The latest addition to the squad is the Nigerian small forward Jeff Varem (198-G/F-83, college: Washington St.). The 27-year old player arrives to Limoges from the Iranian club Saba Mehr, whose member he also was on season 2008/09. This year he also played on Philippines for the Barako Bull Energy Boosters. Varem is not a new face in France as he already played there in the past. On season 2007/08 he was a member of ASVEL averaging 3

Taking an easy 19-6 lead after the opening quarter, France managed to win the game and revenged for the last year loss. Last year Greek U20 National Team triumphed at home European Championship. Seven Greek players scored in double digits to pace the Hellenes to the huge success

France played better and even 86:83 could hardly describe their win. Tanghe scored first for the winners and then Spain dominated in the first period. The latter took the lead in the opening tip and led to 23:16 after 10 minutes
