Atlanta Dream vs. Detroit Shock The Dream will host the Detroit Shock in their first home regular-season game at 7:30 tonight in front of a sell-out crowd. The team has sold 10,039 tickets at Philips Arena for the reconfigured seating for WNBA games. Atlanta Dream roster is formed by rookies, role players and Betty Lenox (ex-Seattle). They are not yet ready to win championship or get into playoffs but they fight in every game. So far they lost 3 games to Phoenix, LA and Connecticut but 2 of 3 losses were away from home and big margin was achieved only because of 4th quarter when home team killed Atlanta dreams to win or comeback into the game. Against LA in their first game ever they were down by 20 points but managed to born a comeback and lost game only by 6 points. Now they will play their season-opener with 10000 spectators and this could be a huge boost for them.
Detroit is not a team which likes to smash out opponents away from home. Last year they won only one away game with 15+ difference and I am not sure if these players know what does that mean to play in sold arena. Detroit have 2-1 record with away loss to Minnesota which is Atlanta's level team maybe only a bit higher. For sure experience matters and most probably Shock will win this one but I am sure that Atlanta will do everything to avoid big margin. Home side will fight for respectable margin if they will lose by more than 10 points, or will fight for a win... because it's women basketball where physhology is very important.
