VS. NY Liberty vs. Washington Mystics The Mystics waived center Lindsay Taylor this morning and created what Tree Rollins called a "three-headed monster" at point guard. Washington claimed third-year Crystal Smith (5-6, 121) off of waivers from Minnesota, but Smith won't be available to the Mystics immediately, General Manager Linda Hargrove said, because of an injured foot that could keep her out of practice for a couple weeks.
Bernice Mosby дooked confident in her knee when playув in practice. She told Washington Post reporter she's still not quite in game shape but hopes she can return sometime in the next week or two if everything continues to improve. Alana Beard spent the morning stretching and working with trainer Navin Hettiarachchi, and I wouldn't expect her to play in New York tomorrow. The entire organization is anxious for her to return but they want her to get through a day of normal practice first. NY Liberty was one of the best home teams in 2007 and I expect them to be very strong team at home this year too because they saved their key players and added some talant to the roster. In their last against Connecticut they looked a bit nervous and missed many shots in the first half and were not so hard in defense and they usually are. Today it should be easier for them to get first win because they looks more ready for the season than Mystics without Beard and Mosby. Expect Liberty to defend hard and win this game with confidence. Predicted score: NY Liverty 76 - 62 Mystics Pick: Liberty -4.5 @ 1.91 Gamebookers
