Connecticut SunVS. Phoenix Mercury

Connecticut Sun vs. Phoenix Mercury

While the Mercury (6-7) began the season 0-4 and dropped six of their first eight after winning their first league title last year, they've rebounded with wins in four of their last five - with Taurasi topping 30 points three times over that span.

"We have the nucleus back but it still takes a little bit of time to get used to each other," Taurasi said. "We're looking at all these games as a training camp as getting in condition to play the way we want to play mentally and physically. It's starting to come together a little bit."

The Mercury will seek a third straight victory for the first time this season on Sunday. After dropping the first game of their road trip, they notched wins at Washington and Chicago, beating the Sky 89-79 on Thursday as six players scored in double figures. The Sun (12-4) have won five straight at home, but barely survived against the winless Atlanta Dream on Friday, handing the expansion team its 14th straight loss to start the season in a 109-101 overtime win.

Detroit ShockVS. Connecticut Sun

 Detroit Shock vs. Connecticut

The Connecticut Sun went more than three years between regular-season victories over the Detroit Shock. Now they have a chance to make it two wins in three days against the defending Eastern Conference champions. The Sun look to complete a home-and-home sweep of the Shock on Thursday as the East's top teams meet at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The rivals entered Tuesday's matchup tied in the standings, but they had been anything but equals in head-to-head play in recent years. Detroit (10-4) won nine straight games against Connecticut in the regular season dating to June 18, 2005, and the Shock also won a playoff series over the Sun in 2006 en route to their second WNBA title. They won all four meetings with Connecticut by five points or fewer last year, when the Sun finished 18-16 after winning 26 games in each of the previous two seasons. The Sun, however, have the WNBA's best record this year at 11-3, and they finally beat Detroit on Tuesday by dominating the fourth quarter of an 85-68 win.

 VS.
Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty

After setting a franchise record for most points scored in their last game, the New York Liberty hope their offense can be that productive again as they begin a road-heavy stretch in their schedule. New York looks to hand the Minnesota Lynx their sixth straight loss Tuesday when the teams meet for the second time in less than two weeks, this time at the Target Center. The Liberty (6-5) have won five of seven this month, including a 105-72 victory over Phoenix on Sunday. New York is seventh among the league's 14 teams in scoring at 76.5 points per game and entered Sunday having scored just 69 points in a loss at Indiana.

Minnesota has dropped another two games since that loss to extend its skid to five following a surprising 6-1 start. The Lynx fell 72-65 Saturday at home to Houston after suffering a five-point loss the night before in Detroit.

Minnesota LynxVS. Houston Comets

Minnesota Lynx - Houston Comets

The Minnesota Lynx became quite familiar with lengthy losing streaks last season as they finished tied for the league's worst record. They're hoping that their current skid doesn't lead to a similar result at the conclusion of the year. The Lynx hope to end a season-high four-game slide, while keeping the Houston Comets winless on the road when the teams meet Saturday. In 2007, Minnesota (6-5) lost its first seven games, then dropped 10 straight from July 1-25 en route to a second straight 10-24 finish. The Lynx, however, managed to turn things around this season, opening with a franchise-best five consecutive victories.

The Comets, however, have dropped all six of their road games - their longest such skid since a seven-game slide from May 19-June 24, 2007.Minnesota came away with a 98-92 road victory over Houston on May 27 and will be trying to win back-to-back contests against the Comets for the first time since June 7-Aug. 16, 2005. T.Dixon should return in Houston Comets roster for this game after sitting out game against Washington.

Seattle StormVS.  Indiana Fever

Seattle Storm vs Indiana Fever

Indiana Fever is Seattle's sister expansion team from 2000 probably has better claim to the comparison because, like the Storm, the Fever stacked veteran players on its roster during the offseason. But unlike Seattle and more like Boston, the three players the Fever has in its lineup — Tamika Catchings, Katie Douglas and Ebony Hoffman — have never reached the WNBA Finals. And the Fever (6-4) truly stresses defense, holding opponents to a league-best 67.2 points on 39.3 percent shooting from the field.
