MATCH PREVIEW

Two teams coming off Week 1 losses will look to pick up their first win when Polish champion Asseco Prokom Sopot hosts French champion Sluc Nancy in the early game on Wednesday evening. Prokom lost its opener 80-71 at Montepaschi Siena, while Nancy was roughed up at home by Regal FC Barcelona 54-82. Prokom played well against such a strong team on the road and enjoyed strong showings by guard David Logan and forward Ronnie Burrell, but the rest of the team combined to shoot 6 for 21 (28.6%) from two-point range. Meanwhile Nancy got 19 points from Lamayne Wilson, but the rest of the team combined for just 35 points on 28.2% two-point shooting and 16.7% from downtown. The key to this week’s game should be which team’s role players rise to the occasion. And there are plenty of candidates. Prokom will look to guard Dan Ewing, veteran big man Pat Burke and explosive forward Filip Dylewicz to make the difference. Nancy turns to Ricardo and Jeff Greer, guard John Cox, forward Victor Samnick and big man Rod Benson. Each team also has a defensive ace up its sleeve: Koko Archibong for Prokom and Michel Morandais for Nancy.

BETTING ANALYSIS

This game is not so easy as many punters thinks when placing bets on Prokom. Line has already moved to Prokom (-5) but I can't agree with this and most important reason of this Prokom bench. They have only 7 players which are in active rotation while deep bench players are very mediocre. Prokom has 2 very emotional games against Montepaschi and Polfarma during last week and I have some doubts regarding their emotional and physical conditions before this game. Sure motivation is on top level because it's Euroleague opening game for hosts and it is very important to win it if they want to achieve Top-16 phase but Prokom in my opinion lacks some quality and offensive power to be real power.

On other side we have Nancy which lost to Barcelona at home by 28 pts and won by 30 pts against Pau in domestic championship. In both games coach rotated roster a lot and saved many energy inside the team because for French club this game is a key one. They know that they can't compete with Montepaschi, Barcelona and Panathinaikos so all their minds are about games against Prokom and Zalgiris. They have deep-deep bench with quality players and I expect Nancy to fight until the end in this game. Unfortunately it's hard to trust them because French teams are usually weak in away Euroleague games and experience is on Prokom sity tonight. But anyway I prefer to respect Nancy chances in Poland.

As for me Prokom is slight favourite to win this game and I would consider them as pick if odds would be at least 1.72 but with odds around 1.50 I see value in Nancy. It's pretty hard to find the right side of market to bet on but in my opinion correct line for this game should be Prokom (-3.5) and ML 1.62. As prediction I expect tough game with nerves in last 2-3 minutes. Home court and Prokom should play in their favour in the end.

Prediction: Prokom Trefl 77 - 74 Nancy

Recommended picks: Better to skip game or take Nancy +6.5 @ 1.78 Pinnaclesports
